Everyone in backstreet Paris knows Bob, and in some way, Bob takes care of all of them. Bob is a con-man gone straight after prison time served some 20 years ago. Always a gambler, Bob loses everything one day at the races and the casino, thus deciding to put into action one last heist before permanent retirement. An early exercise in gripping noir from the masterful Jean-Pierre Melville (Le Cercle Rouge, Army of Shadows).
