Based on a cult comic famed for its extreme violence, the Azumi films tell the story of a beautiful young girl who is also a trained assassin. In the first film Azumi (Aya Ueto) and her friend Nagara (Yuma Ishigaki) take on a band of warlords. In the second, she is hired to take out a man’s chief rival. Azumi is a new kind of action heroine.
