Father Tulipe is a gullible amateur painter, who is retired and tends to his garden. He also manufactures fake currency, just enough to satisfy his modest needs. At the instigation of Hilda, the girlfriend of his nephew Noel, he is talked into manufacturing larger amounts of money. The high life on the Côte d'Azur beckons. His paintings sell well there and, lured into the casinos, he makes a fortune. But Hilda and Noel burn what they believe to be fake bank notes and Tulipe returns to his flowers in Argenteuil.
